 Well
lets get started and jump in with both feet. This is definately not a movie
you pop in and "fiddle" around while watching. You really need to have
your mind open and your thinking cap in high gear. This film is a masterpiece
of imagery chock full of things that will have your brain going. Calling
it a "powerful" film could easily be an understatment. One unique thing
I liked was the character design which was in an "old school" fashion like
you would think common with Galaxy 999 (which makes since since
we have the same director "Rinataro" as 999 and being written by
Legend Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira) doesn't hurt! OK enough name throwing
lets get down to the juice THE STORY!
Our setting is a futuristic city "Metropolis" whose inhaibitants are of course humans with however a large population of robots who work to serve man in many day to day tasks. The shear scale of Metropolis itself is amazing. The story is rather interesting as it involves a scientist (mad scientist of course lol) who is designing a "perfect" robot to take the "throne" for a machine built by one of the cities leaders. The story basically revolves around a detective and his nephew searching for the scientists who end up meeting his creation which is a young girl who is actually the cyborg if you will. I dont wanna go into too much detail as its really a story you have to see to truely grasp. The characters are both complex and times mysterious. Its hard to know exactly what some people really want until the ending arrives. The animation is what you would expect from the creators of 999 and is very unique. The music was a rather interesting twist as well. There were some points I literally was like "whoa" or even laughed in a good way! It was very odd but something to see. You really have to think about this one and remember have an open mind or you may miss something. So I recommend you go grab this one and be sure to have the time to invest as you should get a good thrill from it as well as polish the old brain off a bit :) and for you true story and character development junkies go grab it!  |

What is Metropolis exactly, is it a movie about where batman lives??? No, it's about a future seen before the nuclear age... This age where robots roam amoung us as servents and people are outraged on lack of jobs... Where is all these stupid robots gonna stop being made and stop taking our jobs!!! Well, that's about how the people feel about robots while the rich feel it's for the better that they don't lose money... Anyways, the story isn't mainly about the battle over the rights but over just this specail made robot... A crazy loon, vice-president, takes up the idea that he can rule the world with his daughter... But his daughter is dead, so he goes and has this scientist make one for him... But what about the crazy loon's right hand man that's a kid??? He goes bizerk and shoot the scientist and the doll... Now what, he set's the place on fire, nice job IDIOT!!! But what about the
old man, the robot and the kid??? Well, the old man is a private
eye going after the scientist for illegal use of human parts with
