A new Gundam series has arisen! (surprise) although I do say I'm more accepting of this show so far. Note this series takes place in the "alternate universe" and does not follow the UC calender with Amuro Rey and Char Aznable. In this story we have (another surprise) 5 newly built Gundam models rolling off the production line. In this one I do like how the "good guys" didn't get them all. The antagonist in this show are out to steal the models at the beginning but only get 4. I don’t wanna go into too much detail but gotta say so far I enjoy the new aspects they are trying. One the animation being very nice and fluid, the idea of the Gundams new "armour" (can't remember the term they use in the fansub) where when activated the Gundam becomes colored, whereas normally they have a grey look on the armour. Theres even a bit of fanservice in this one for you fanboys ^_- not really needed in my opinion but whatever. My gripes so far are just the way overdone rips off the older shows and rehashed ideas. Mainly being PLEASE GET RID OF THE GUY IN A MASK IDEA! Ok it was great and classic for Char Aznable in the original Mobile Suit Gundam to have a mask, it was rather slick and fit into the story. I GUESS I can let it slide in Gundam Wing but it was played out. But now in Gundam Seed to have a guy in a mask is just way overdoing it. *ahem* anyways. So far I've seen about 8 episodes and I've enjoyed them. Standard pilot having turmoil with war plot. If your looking for a hard edge political/philosophical/war style Gundam then this ISN'T your cup of tea. For that you need to stick the the Universal Calender Gundam series such as Mobile Suit, Char's Counterattack, Gundam MS 08th etc. But if your looking for a universal century in the veins of Gundam Wing, Gundam X etc. then this should fit your bill. But I recommend at least giving it a try to make your own conclusions. For this one I think you'll either really like it or really hate it.
